Dr Dobes completed her medical degree at the Australian National University, where she developed an interest in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery during her time as a junior doctor. She went on to pursue this specialty, studying dentistry at the University of Sydney, followed by a Master of Philosophy in Surgery at ANU.

Her specialist training was undertaken across Canberra, Newcastle, and Sydney.
​
Dr Dobes is currently a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in private and public practice.
​
She is Supervisor of Training of OMS trainees at The Canberra Hospital, and serves as a member of the Fellowship Committee, and the Regional Surgical Committees of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.
​
She is also actively involved in teaching medical and dental students, as well as mentoring junior doctors.
​
Outside of her professional role, Dr Dobes enjoys spending time with her young and active family.
