  • Exposure of Impacted Teeth – Often performed in conjunction with orthodontic treatment, this procedure helps guide impacted teeth (commonly canines) into their proper position.

At Capital Oral & Facial Surgery, we provide a full range of dentoalveolar surgical procedures - specialised treatments involving the teeth gums, and supporting jawbone.  These procedures are commonly required to restore function relieve discomfort, or prepare the mouth for future dental treatments.

Unlike more complex facial surgeries, these procedures are typically performed in-clinic and are often completed under local anaesthetic, sedation, or general anaesthetic depending on your needs.

What To Expect At Your Appointment

Undergoing dentoalveolar surgery can feel a little daunting, but knowing what's ahead can make the process much easier.  At Capital Oral & Facial Surgery, we guide you through each stage - from planning to recovery - so you feel confident and supported throughout your treatment.

  • Our Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons will perform a thorough consultation, including an oral examination, x-rays or scans, and a discussion of your medical history.  This allows us to create a tailored treatment plan and explain your options, including local anaesthetic, sedation , or general anaesthetic, so you feel informed and comfortable.

  • Our friendly reception staff will help you find an appointment time that works best for you.  They'll also guide you through any paperwork and requirements and answer questions about the process.  If you're anxious or unsure, they're happy to talk you through what to expect.

  • On the day of surgery, our surgeons focus on precision, comfort, and safety.  Depending on your treatment, you may be awake with local anaesthetic or sedation, or fully asleep under general anaesthetic.  Most procedures are completed within an hour, though more complex cases may take longer.

  • Patient's return home the same day.  Some swelling, bruising, or mild discomfort is normal for the first few days and is manageable with medication and simple care.  We provide clear aftercare instructions on diet, oral hygiene and activity.  Recovery is usually smooth, with most patients resuming normal routines within a week.
